Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties Job Summary Implements skills-acquisition and behavior intervention plans developed by the Education Team and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in the classroom to teach communication, social, and living skills to reduce behaviors that challenge others in the school and home. Collaborates with classroom teams, coaches, mental health consultants, school counselors, and Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP) specialists when appropriate. Essential Duties 1. Works with staff to implement intervention plans for children. Models therapeutic interactions with children for classroom staff, first at a high-level of support, the gradually fading support as the classroom staff acquire skills in implementation of interventions. Provides ongoing support for action plans and safety plans as needed. 2. Works one-on-one with children to improve communication skills and teach function-based replacement skills. 3. Observes classroom environments to identify potential triggers and reinforcers. Collects data regularly to assess the implementation accuracy and effectiveness of interventions. Communicates with site staff regarding factors that impact the classroom environment and actions of the children. 4. Implements evidence-based positive interventions, focusing on skill acquisition of staff to directly support children in the classroom. 5. Meets regularly with the BCBA to review data and plan progress. Additional Duties 1. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Associate’s degree in education, child development, social sciences, or a related field • Two (2) years of experience working with children with disabilities and/or behavioral issues • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire • Current driver’s license, insurance and access to a reliable automobile during work hours for driving between work sites. Must have at least three (3) years of driving history Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Additional Requirements • Must be enrolled in the Oregon Central Background Registry prior to beginning employment and enrollment must be maintained throughout employment. • Post-offer fitness for duty evaluation, must be obtained within 30 days of hire date: 1. TB screening 2.
