Purpose of this Role This position is responsible for the case management of 9-10 participants (ages 0-3 years old) and their families consistent with Head Start Performance Standards and other requirements; utilizing Parents as Teachers (PAT) Curriculum, Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and Keys to Interactive Parenting Scale (KIPS) assessments, as well as nurturing the well-being of children and implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) strategies. This position is responsible for weekly home visits as well as running bi-weekly group social events with all the families under assigned case load. Primary Responsibilities The Home Visitor (HV) promotes family engagement by establishing a trusting and positive relationship with families. The HV assists parents by promoting optimal child development, brings awareness to positive and effective parenting strategies, stresses the importance of preventive and on-going health services, partners with families to establish goals that promote self-sufficiency and family resiliency skills, and provides community resources as needed. The HV coaches families in recognizing risk factors and developing plans to mitigate negative effects of situations such as domestic abuse, violence, child abuse, substance abuse, immigration, and housing issues. The Home Visitor accomplishes these goals by conducting 90-minute home visits weekly maintaining documentation, completing assessments and screenings, creating Individual Learning Plans (ILP), and adapting home visits based on individual needs. You will collaborate with our Family Advocate and Family Engagement Specialist teams, implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and ensure all plans utilize anti-bias curriculum. In addition to home visits, the HV coordinates regular group socials for the families in their case load; opportunities for families to connect in a positive safe environment that encourages healthy socialization and includes skill development, music, art, free play, physical activity, etc. The HV may also be asked to sub in the classroom as needed.
