OHSA is thrilled to share that Ron Herndon has received the 2023 Alexander Award for advocacy and commitment to children and families by the Children's Institute.
Since 1975, Ron has served as the director of Albina Head Start in Portland and has dedicated more than 40 years to advocating for low-income children and families in both Oregon and across the country. In addition to his role at Albina, Ron served as President and Board Chair of the National Head Start Association(NHSA) from 1991- 2013, where he provided national advocacy leadership for Head Start programs across the nation. Thank you, Ron, for more than four decades of advocacy work on behalf of Head Start programs and the significant impact this has had on the lives of countless children and families.
